KINFRA has announced plans to develop a Medicity on 250 acres of land at Mangalapuram on the outskirts of Trivandrum. To be developed on the PPP model, it will involve major private investment. The overall investment in the project is estimated to exceed Rs 1000 Crore.The Government is planning to declare the entire area as a Special Economic Zone. The land has already been notified for acquisition and is mostly part of two large estates, which have little inhabitation.The Medicity will have units in the fields of medical treatment, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and so on. It is only about 15 Kms from the Trivandrum International Airport and about 30 Kms from the deep sea port at Vizhinjam.And moreover, this massive project is literally just down the road from Technocity.
